This was 1968 okay and I expect the quirks of youth knew no more
bounds over there than they did on this side of the lake. Back then
among the avid rock 'n' roll fan fraternity I mixed with many of us
had nicknames usually (but not always) based around record titles.

I got that name because I was the only one in our crowd that owned a
near mint 45RPM copy of what was then a real Holy Grail of 50's rock
'n' roll collecting----Johnny Carroll's "Hot Rock" which was always
rare enough on its original natiive US Decca pressing.

But the copy on UK Brunswick was 10 times rarer still!!

I had a friend who we called Hot Rocks and I don't think any of us had heard the record. I think it was because he was a ladies man.

Yes there is that connotation too but modesty was always my strong
suit :)

When I first made the scene among other collectors (1974-75) I was of course referred to by most of them as "Savoy."
