Earlier and totally different group to the later much more famous
Clyde McPhatter led outfit. Unca Marvy suggests that these may well be
the even earlier still Drifters that backed Ernie Andrews on a couple
of forgettable London label pop things.Of course there were a clutch
of other different "Drifters" too over the years----from the group on
Crown (who were actually The Robins) through to our own Cliff
Richard's backing group in 1958 (before they changed their name to the
Shadows

"Wine Head Woman" here is not to be confused with several songs of the
same name or very similar----notably the excellent 1955 Woodrow Adams
blues on Meteor

BTW I notice the YT poster is one "Charlie Feathers" who if memory
serves me right---in this instance---was an earlier incarnation of our
buddy Larry O' :)

Okay here's how these Drifters did in the 1950 Singles Battle

Low sevens just fall short of my yearly lists.
