At the time, WPOP was the only Top 40 station in Hartford. That changed
in August 1960, when WDRC adopted the same format.

Turns out I had the Rogues song on MP3 already, gave it a 5.

That Dion thing is like a 2. They were a pop group like the fucking Four
Coins or some shit I guess. I always knew of the record but don't think
I ever listened to it before. It's fucking dire.

I'm surprised it was a #1 song

released on Mohawk 105
this 'shit' sound was for 50s suburban picket fenced whites
Dion never met The Timberlanes, his lead vocal was added to
existing pre-recorded tracks for his first release
Dion said: The vocal group was so white bread, I went back to my
neighborhood {The Bronx} and I recruited a bunch of guys, three
guys, and we called ourselves Dion and the Belmonts

The original Belmonts group consisted of Angelo D'Aleo (born Feb
1940), Carlo Mastrangelo (Oct 1937 – Apr 2016), and Fred Milano
(Aug 1939 – Jan 2012). They took their name from Belmont, the
Bronx street in which Mastrangelo lived, known as the Little Italy of
the Bronx.

Global warming has really changed the climate around here. It's been in
the 60s most days in November so far, and we hardly had any cold days in
October. Very little snow the last 2 winters at all. Just about 15-20
years ago when I was working fall baseball games we used to freeze our
asses off in October and November. This past October was warmer than
April around here. Average daytime temps for October here were 65
degrees.

THe answer seems to me to be very simple in explaining but incredibly
hard (maybe impossible?) in practice

The USA needs to join the other huge country atmosphere polluters like
Russia,China and India in cutting way down the amount of carbon dioxide
in the atmosphere (and Taylor Swift & co need to ditch their private
jets)

But most of all the US needs to step up to the plate and help give the
world workable clean nuclear fusion thus solving our energy needs for
the foreseeable future --

ask Copilot:

why might there be claims that climate change is a hoax

response:

1. **Economic Interests**: Industries reliant on fossil fuels, such as
oil and coal, might oppose climate change policies that could impact
their profits. These industries sometimes fund campaigns to spread
doubt about climate science.

2. **Political Ideology**: Some individuals might deny climate change
because it aligns with the stance of their preferred political party

3. **Misinformation**: Some people might be influenced by false
information that downplays or denies the reality of climate change

4. **Psychological Factors**: The concept of climate change can be
overwhelming and frightening. Denying its existence can be a coping
mechanism to avoid dealing with the anxiety and responsibility
associated with it.

Understanding these motivations can help address the root causes of
climate change denial and promote more informed discussions.

climate change is a hoax.
I don't believe it's a hoax but the Earth has passed thru several severe
climate change scenarios in the past (ice ages and suchlike) and
returned to normal---but none of those past changes were man made.

What's happening now is largely man made---but of course after such a
change the Earth may well still return to normality but that scenario is
hardly comforting when most--if not all--the world's population is
already dead
