Sprightly rocker that was the immediate followup to “Let The Good Times
Roll” . Peaked at #38 BBpop #3 BBr&b
4. JUST WON’T DO RIGHT – JAMES BROWN (BOBBY BYRD)
Some sources have 1957 on this but its reviewed so very early in January
that year it has to be late 1956 release
5. I’LL BE SPINNING – JOHNNIE & JOE
Their debut record on J&S label initially then released on Chess a month
or so later
6. NO GOOD LOVER – MICKEY & SYLVIA
Their first on the Groove label several months before “Love Is Strange”
(I like this one better too 😊)

Solid New Orleans bouncer on Imperial from the songwriting duo Ruth
Durand and Al Reed

Only their second record for Old Town but one of their very best!

Their excellent debut release on Old Town with a song that was reissued
again in 1958—charting this time at #93 BBpop

West Coast artist Hammond who recorded with Young (who became Little

A highspot of one of my very favorite musical movies---1956’s “High

Not to be confused with the later “That’s What I Wanna Do” this was
their first record on Aladdin of 1956

One of their best for Aladdin from December 1956---but ‘twas 1959 (!!!)

17. DONE GONE – GEORGE & EARL
Here’s a 1956 rockabilly number that was hugely popular with the regular
crowd that frequented Moondog’s
18. COOL DOWN MAME – THE FARMER BOYS
Another RAB I first heard on the Capitol Rockabillies LP in 1977. Liked
it a lot from first hearing, nothing has changed

Another memorable duet from “High Society”---this duo sang together a
few times on TV but IIRC this is the ONLY time in a movie
