This came up on my bike ride today:

I've never really isolated much on the background singing, but I do feel
that the Jordanaires, who were on many of Elvis' records, did a very
nice job in complementing his vocals/records. And for me, too many to
actually chose from as the better ones.

Do any of you have any background singing that stand out, either from
the Jordanaires, or even from other artists, or vocal groups ?

I'd imagine the vocal groups would dominate any list like this.

This artist almost never used backing vocals, so this track really
stands out for me:

Interesting. I haven't heard that in years. Not a very common one, but
good catch.

Most of the Atlantic acts used the Cues and called them different names.

I seem to have 7:

Elvis Presley

Jerry Lee Lewis

Carol & Jerry Lee Lewis

Beatles live at the BBC

John Lennon & Chuck Berry (Live on the Mike Douglas Show (the one where
Yoko totally fucks it up).

Rolling Stones ( live 1962)

Lance Lipinsky and the Lovers (whoever the hell they are)

Thanks DianeE, I have this, the instrumentation is good, but on this
occasion I don't like the rough/raspy vocal.

Exactly--a *few* times.
I was thinking of mentioning the times Bo Diddley used backing vocals,
but that was more than a few, and it was always a different group.

Perhaps I should also mention the Raelettes. Or are we only talking
about male groups?
