I never paid any attention to politics until around 2007 when Obama was
running. I did not even know that Clinton had been impeached back then.
That's how little I followed things back then. I knew that he had
problems over what was going on with Lewinsky, but I never realized that
he had been impeached. I could not have told you in those years who was
the Speaker of the House, or any of the other party leaders in either
chamber. Had no idea.

Diane got me interested. She would watch "Meet The Press" and/or "Face
The Nation" on Sundays and I liked Obama so I started paying attention
and have watched MSNBC a lot since then.

But with the disastrous results from Tuesday, and the general
disappointments of politics for me, I have decided that I am going back
to not paying any attention to politics any more. I can't take another 4
years of hearing about the stupid shit that Trump says and does every
day.

Hopefully I can go back to just being ignorant about all this stuff like
I was for the first 50 years of my life.

It's served you well in other areas.

Very funny.

Can you name some of those other areas?

The day after the election, I suspended my Facebook account and
unsubscribed from all political YouTube channels. At this point, I need
to tune out politics and the news and just live my life.

I will not express anger and outrage over this election. I won’t point
fingers or blame anyone. To do so would only provide a good laugh to any
MAGAs who might read this. Rather, I will simply acknowledge (with deep
sadness) that the America that I once believed in no longer exists.

Anybody I know who voted for Trump will no longer be in my life. We
don’t merely have a difference of opinion; we have a difference in
morality. I don’t give a damn how long I’ve known you or how close we’ve
become. If you voted for Trump, I’m done with you. Sorry, but actions
have consequences.

As a straight white male in a solid blue state, I’m less concerned about
myself than for those who are not straight white males. Trump and his
minions have made no secret of their feelings toward America’s ethnic,
sexual and religious minorities, not to mention people who simply don’t
share their views. This election will further embolden them. For the
first time in my 58 years, I’m thinking about getting a gun and learning
how to use it. Better safe than sorry.

I’m also concerned that following this defeat, the Democratic Party will
shift to the right—exactly as it did after the so-called “Republican
Revolution” of 1994. During his final six years in office, Bill Clinton
made policy decisions for which Ronald Reagan would have been
excoriated. And who suffered for it? Not the wealthy and powerful!

I’m glad I never had kids and that my life is approximately two-thirds
over. With the direction my country has taken, I shudder to think of
where it will be in 50 years. At least I won’t be around to see it.

America: it was nice while it lasted.

These assholes are more worried about getting their dozen eggs for a
dollar less than they are about abortion, Ukraine, the Middle East,
banning books, Trump sexually assaulting women, insurrections, and
everything else combined.

The ironic thing is, those prices are never coming down. These boobs
actually think that Trump is gonna snap his fingers and make groceries
cheaper.

cheaper.
The ironic thing is he might actually bring grocery prices down. So many
of us may lose our appetites because of his presidency, that the laws of
supply and demand may take over.
