I just today--well, yesterday now--found a mono copy of INTRODUCING THE
BEATLES on Vee-Jay. It has the same track listing as PLEASE PLEASE ME,
but I'm glad to have it in my collection.

There were several different bootleg pressings of the Vee Jay album. I
think the Vee Jay album only has 12 songs while "Please Please Me" has
14 songs.

If you want to check which pressing you have, what is written in the
dead wax on each side (the middle of the record in the space between the
last track on that side and the label).

It has 12 tracks, along with an original Vee-Jay inner sleeve.

The deadwax has a date written in it: 2-6-64. Unfortunately, with my
aging eyes, I can't make out the matrix number.

The Vee Jay inner sleeve eliminates the chances of it being a bootleg.

Even tho it was very similar to their debut UK LP I remember many copies
of the US "Introducing The Beatles" (Vee Jay) and the even bigger "Meet
The Beatles" (Capitol) albums being imported into Britain and appearing
in certain London locations

Yup, it's VJLP 1062. It's also in excellent condition, which (per
Discogs) makes it worth about $50. That was slightly more than I paid
for it.

Check out the label closely to see if it's exactly the same. There are
many variations of this album with only slight differences.

Until Sgt. Pepper (or thereabouts) British and American Beatles lps were
different, 12 songs on American releses and 14 songs on British releases, and
they varied a bit on which songs were included. The "Rubber Soul" album was
rather different depending on which side of the Atlantic it was sold. IIRC,
the same was true of other bands' LPs, too.

The song lineup above is correct for the American "Introducing The
Beatles" album on Vee Jay

However the lineup for the earlier original "Please Please Me" UK album
on Parlophone has two more tracks

I Saw Her Standing There
Misery
Anna (Go To Him)
Chains
Boys
Ask Me Why
Please Please Me
Love Me Do
P.S. I Love You
Baby It's You
Do You Want To Know A Secret
